A combi that works well, Linux & Windows. January 4, 2010 R. Flynn (UK) 65 out of 67 found this review helpful
I decided last year, on grounds of space, to replace my desktop with a laptop, and to get a wireless printer/scanner.
This one was favourably reviewed, and not too expensive, so I went for it. So far, so no problems! In Windows 7, it fires up perfectly, and prints from anywhere I choose to send. Scanning also works well, though to get really good images, you may want to tweak the settings, as always.
More interestingly, this can also work wirelessly with Ubuntu 9,10, which was a pleasant surprise. You want to install hplip 3.9.12 from the web (Google for it), then go through its install via a terminal command, but it does get there without much hassle. Well done HP.

High quality easy to use printer April 6, 2010 Petey (Lancashire, UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
After owning and Epson all in one printer for two years (which gave me nothing but trouble), I decided to go for an HP printer as I owned one in the past and it was reliable.
When the printer arrived, the set up was easy. Just install the sofware, connect it to a computer on your network and the printer automatically picks up your wireless settings then you are free to put the printer anywhere you like in your home.
For just printing black and white documents, this printer is fast, even at high quality.
I highly recommend this printer if you are after a good quality printer that is easy to use and looks good in a modern home.

I read all the reviews before ordering and although I don't disbelieve the reports of installation problems I can only say that my experience was that installation was both simple and flawless. I use a mixture of Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) computers and it works absolutely perfectly withe them; I actually installed it using Ubuntu and added my Windows netbook later, both were completely without drama :-)
A hint for Windows users: there are downloads available from HP for use on netbooks or other PCs with no CD drive, and along with the full CD image there's a much smaller "drivers only" download available that works beautifully without installing all the other junk that comes on the full CD install. I recommend downloading it and using instead of the supplied CD whether or not you have a CD drive.
Summary: a well-made and attractive printer that produces nice output quickly and fairly quietly. The scanner and copy functions work well, as does the ability to print photos directly from your camera's card without using a PC at all. The card reader in the printer can also be "seen" by your PC, so you can also use it to download your images if your PC doesn't have a card reader of its own.
All in all a very good buy that I'm happy to recommend.
Great Product March 23, 2010 J. Wan 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
After shopping around for ages, I finally bought this printer. I have both Mac and PC's in my home so I needed something compatible with both. Having checked the HP website this model was recommended for both Mac and PC. I have had no problems with this printer since it arrived and have had easy setup. I also downloaded the HP iphone app to send pictures to printer via wifi which was really quite cool.
One of my main concerns before purchasing was this "integrated push button" thing. I trawled the net and asked my IT colleagues for answers and no one seemed to provide me with any info if it was going to work. Having bought the printer I still don't know what it is, but it works with my router which I got free from my ISP. So it should work for other people. I speculate that perhaps because people hide their SSID that it doesn't find the network. Anyway good product, good purchase! And all the other scan/copy functions also work well!
