LIGHT, FAST, SECURE - AND OLD SCHOOL HONEST April 7, 2010 NeuroSplicer (Freeside, in geosynchronous orbit) I am using AVG INTERNET SECURITY 9.0 for over six months now. But I never bought it. What I did buy was an older AVG security suite (v7.5), 2 years ago. Nevertheless, whenever a later version becomes available, the suite updates itself to the latest version -- FREE! It happened at least three times over these past years, with versions 8.0, 8.5 and recently 9.
You have to respect a company that does this! With AVG a 2 year license means you shall have the latest security suite for 2 years (and not just new database definitions). Can you imagine buying McAfee or Norton 2009 in October and in March been offered their later release, free?
As a security suite, AVG is light and reliable. It does not tax my system resources either idle or actively scanning, and one can trade speed for resources with a scalable slider. The interface is user friendly and intuitive. The default settings will protect the initiate user from confusing alerts and warnings. On the other hand, the experienced user can dive in and configure the suite to suit him best.
The only thing I did not like with v9.0 are the icons in the main interface, which I found bland and boring. But appearances are a very minor thing when it comes to security suites.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Cheap product with 2 year usage. Free upgrade to AVG 9. Running windows 7 64 bit, Install was easy, allow it to sort it self out and use standard settings. No conflicts, up and running within 10 minutes.
Internet Security May 1, 2010 Leonard Fox (London UK) I highly recommend this AVG package. Runs on system without being noticed, will not use any other security product fro now on. Great value for money.

I'm back to eat humble pie in that I have now managed to install and update this software, and it is working! This has happened after my hard drive was wiped and recovered - I don't fully understand why it wasn't working the first time but it is now. You will understand the frustrations I reported initially, but all now seems well, though it's still early days to give a reasonable and fair opinion on the software. Up to a point, however, I am eating humble pie! I don't know just yet how many stars to give, but it's definitely better than my initial opinion, which was somewhat coloured.
Ok, but not perfect January 6, 2010 A. Tassell (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A cheap way to get AVG 9.0 but its not without its problems. On loading this product you are notified that this product has been superseeded, but by visiting their website you can download version 9.0 and use the activation code supplied when you register this product. However when i tried to reconnect to the internet I was unable to, and got a 720 error code. After several frustrating hours and calls to my ISP, I discovered that the Avg miniport drivers (in network adaptors) were either corrupt or in conflict with existing drivers, but by disabling the avg ones it solved the problem. AVG 9.0 does however significantly slow startup(Which I have yet to remedy), but doesn't slow the computer during use.
